Start with the day, not the catalogue
The most useful thing you can do is notice which moments have quietly become harder — a step, a reach, a long stand. Small, targeted changes there tend to help far more than a big shopping trip.
Have the conversation gently
- Frame changes as making a good day easier, not as a loss of ability.
- Involve them in the choice — independence is the point.
- Introduce one change at a time and see how it lands.
